Nomination Process

Nominating ballots for board member positions are sent home in early March with your child. Parents may nominate themselves or another member for any position on the PTA board.

A committee made up of non-board member parents will interview each of the nominees and make a recommendation to the current board. The new board for the following school year will be voted on at the May meeting. Typically this meeting coincides with the WDES Chorus performance which is usually the first Tuesday night in May. A confirmed date will be available and announced on the homepage of the wdespta.org website.

Issue/Topic Submission

Issues or topics that you would like reviewed by the board may be submitted to any of the board members. It is best to submitted your concerns via email for proper documentation, but you may also call or meet in-person with any of the board members.

Meetings

The PTA board will typically meet the second Tuesday of each month, although exceptions can be made. An up-to-date calendar will be available on the wdespta.org website with all of the active meeting dates. During each meeting the school principal is typically in attendance.

Meeting topics typically include budget establishment/review, calendar items as well as updates on various committee activities, events, fundraising and student/teacher/school needs.

All meetings do follow parliamentary procedure with meeting minutes taken and published shortly after the meeting concludes.
